Patent being an “exclusive right” helps the owner to protect his creativity and innovative idea of invention from exploitation and irrelevant usage by preventing others from importing, using and selling the product or procedure of manufacturing the product invented by the patentee without his consent. It is more like preserving the skill of an innovative person who has put his intellect in inventing something unique and useful and rewarding him for the same.
Also, indirectly patent grants monopoly over the usage of invention to the inventor or patentee. Patent also opens the door for new inventions as by preventing the imitation of the invention and re-invention it motivates people to bring some “innovative step” in their work and come up with new discoveries. The patentee also earn profits from the patent as if someone is using his patent from his consent in manufacturing something then the grant of license for the usage of invention to the manufacturer can act as a source of income for the patentee.
